Cee Lo Green – All Alone Now

Never heard before Cee Lo X Waajeed collaboration. It was wriiten and demoed for the late, great Whitney Houston circa 2007. The A&Rs at RCA were calling every and anybody to find a sound for her 2009 release, I Look To You. I worked on seven or eight different versions finally deciding on this one with additional parts from Simon Katz from Jamiroquai.

Lyrically, Cee Lo nailed it! At the time she was going though her very public separation with Bobby Brown. He wrote the words as if she was speaking directly to him.

I wish I would’ve been able to hear her wonderful voice singing these words, but for now Cee-Lo will do.

R.I.P. Whitney

Enjoy!

Whitney Houston On The Covers Of Rolling Stone

Whitney Houston On The Covers Of Rolling Stone

The late Whitney Houston covers Rolling Stone ‘s March 15 issue.

Diligent professional one moment, wild child the next: Those were the opposing sides of Houston in her last days – and, it turns out, much of her life. Blessed with a peerless combination of bravura lung power, model-perfect looks, and an image that was both warm and regal, Houston was that pop rarity: a genuine crossover star, juggling music and film, audiences young and old, black and white. “Because of her cousin Dionne [Warwick], she understood all those pretty-ass melodies from Burt Bacharach,” says Narada Michael Walden, one of Houston’s many producers. “But because she was young and from the era of Michael Jackson, Prince and Madonna, she had soul in her too – those rhythms. She had both sides. Plus, she was so damn gorgeous. You couldn’t say no to her.”

Jennifer Hudson was given the big task of performing a tribute to the late Whitney Houston.

They absolutely had to pay tribute to the late icon, but there was nowhere near enough time to put together the sort of salute that Houston’s legacy demands.

She got on stage and performed “I Will Always Love You,” the Dolly Parton song that Houston made into a worldwide smash on the soundtrack to The Bodyguard.
